JOB TITLE: Server - Seasonal

JOB SUMMARY: As a Server, you will be crucial in providing exceptional dining experiences for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. You will ensure efficient and courteous service in the dining room, all while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere and upholding high standards of food safety and sanitation. You will also be assigned shifts for our offsite special events, in which our high standards of exceptional service and food safety must also be upheld.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Provide friendly, attentive, proactive, and efficient service to all guests, addressing their needs promptly and courteously.
• Ensure the front-of-the-house execution of meal services, receptions, and events that require food and beverage service.
• Set up and maintain dining room and breezeway areas, including cleaning tables and counters, refilling condiments, setting up proper signage, and ensuring the buffet and snacks are set and ready for service.
• Serve food and beverages accurately and promptly according to established procedures, ensuring proper portion control and presentation.
• Carry and lift trays of food to the buffet, including swapping out hotel pans on the steam tables and refilling them with full ones, clearing the steam tables and cold tables of food after the meal service has ended, and properly storing the leftover food in the correct fridge.
• Assist in loading and unloading vehicles.
• Adhere to the provided timeline to ensure smooth service.
• Support kitchen staff as needed by assisting with food preparation tasks such as garnishing dishes, plating desserts, and assembling salads.
• Support the kitchen staff as needed by assisting with dishwashing duties, bringing bus tubs of dirty dishes to the dish pit, and putting away clean dishes.
• Have a thorough understanding of the menu items, including ingredients, allergens, and preparation methods, to answer guest inquiries.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times, reporting any safety hazards or issues to management and/or the client immediately.
• Collaborate with other staff to ensure smooth operation during peak times and special events.
• Follow all policies and procedures, including those related to food safety, general safety, and uniform standards.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR SPECIAL EVENTS:

• Assist in the set-up and breakdown of tables, chairs, linens, flatware, glassware, and any other food and beverage items with little supervision.
• Balance and carry trays of food and beverages for meal service and other assigned food and beverage service.
• Maintain and replenish event tables as directed.
• Must have strong table service skills with the ability to learn and follow our unique style of service.
• Assist in the scullery area by scraping dishes, sorting and stacking items appropriately, disposing waste in accordance with guidelines, all while keeping the area clean and safe.
• Know and execute tableside coffee and wine service.
• In accordance with applicable laws, ID guests consuming alcohol and assist with limited bar service.

PAY RANGE: $17-22 per hour based on experience; offsite special events provide you with the opportunity to receive gratuity

Requirements

PHYSICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Must be comfortable standing long hours and lifting up to 40 pounds as well as team lifting up to 60 pounds. Comfortable working outside as well as inside, and off site at events with various weather conditions.
